Jet Zero is an Australian company developing SAF projects that seek to strengthen regional economies, support national fuel security and decarbonise the aviation industry.

WHO WE ARE

Founded in North Queensland, Australia in 2021 with just four employees and an ambition to develop an energy industry that attracted much needed investment and employment to the region, Jet Zero has grown exponentially.

We have secured material financial backing from strategic investors and institutions and have over hundred employees and contractors working on Jet Zero projects across the globe.

We have the excitement of a startup with the resources of an industry leader; we are a company where extraordinary people have come together to create and build.

Environment

Our SAF projects are on track to abate more than one million tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2), delivering real climate impact. Long before the first drop of SAF is produced, we are putting strong safeguards and accountability in place to ensure our growth is genuinely sustainable. We are members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB) and the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) to align ourselves with some of the most rigorous sustainability standards in the world.

Community

We are a supporting partner of the North Queensland Cowboys Foundation and NRL Cowboys House. We are focussed on supporting their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students, who come from remote and disadvantaged communities, in career pathway opportunities as a Transition Partner. We are also a partner of the Healthy Waters Partnership for the Dry Tropics where we share a vision of improving the health of Townsville’s waterways from the rivers to the Great Barrier Reef.

We have been named on the Australian Green List of Top 100 Australian Energy Leaders, won Sustainability Initiative of the Year twice at the Australian Aviation Awards and Highly Commended at the Reuters Global Energy Transition Awards in New York. We have engaged CSIRO of Australia and Datagro of Brazil to explore new biofuel opportunities and worked with global financial institutions to develop innovative off-take structures.

Innovation

OUR IMPACT

We are committed to making a positive impact in regional Australia and across the globe.

We are trusted by investors and governments across the world to develop SAF projects that produce fully traceable CORSIA certified Sustainable Aviation Fuel while seeking the optimal balance between cost, risk and reward.

We take proven and scaled SAF production technologies and new and innovative commercial frameworks and develop our projects through our own unique capital efficient delivery platform. We also look for opportunities across the SAF supply chain where we believe it makes sense to do so.

WHAT WE DO

We focus on collaboration , working with our partners to share ideas, identify and address risks and opportunities, and build inhouse tools and knowledge to accelerate the production of fully traceable certified SAF.

We want success and accordingly, we apply a capital efficient design philosophy with our own unique Opportunity and Project Realisation Process (OPRP) across our project pipeline. The OPRP is a robust, systematic and scalable road map for moving each project from definition through to production.

OUR APPROACH

We have secured material financial backing from strategic investors and institutions and have over hundred employees and contractors working on Jet Zero projects across the globe.

The SAF production technologies utilised by our biofuel refineries include Hydro Processed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) and Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ).

Most of the SAF supplied today is derived from the HEFA pathway which converts renewable lipids such as used cooking oils, tallow, or vegetable oils into jet fuel via hydrogenation and hydrocracking process.

In 2023 we licenced LanzaJet ATJ technology under a world first agreement, positioning Australia to deploy a proven commercial pathway with a strong international reference facility. ATJ is a novel hydrocarbon synthesis technology using bioethanol and a sequence of advanced catalysts in a dehydration, oligomerization, and hydrogenation process.

We have funded proprietary software initiatives, such SAF KMS, a central repository developed using Power BI analytics and housing critical organizational knowledge. The software enables project managers and engineers to make quick and informed decisions using information, data, and historical insights across our business.

Under our business Silvo Plus we have recently secured access to advanced genetics for drought-resilient crop systems including pongamia to develop, refine and scale up low carbon SAF feedstock production on marginal grazing lands.

THE TECHNOLOGY

Utilising proven and scaled SAF technologies which achieve the optimal balance between cost, risk and reward.

ATJ technology is a commercial scale technology solution to produce SAF from ethanol.

ATJ: HOW IT WORKS

Jet Zero brings together an extraordinary team of experienced leaders, scientists, engineers and operators focused on building Australia’s next biofuel industry in regional centres.

We are proud of our culture - one that is shaped by trust, accountability, practical innovation and strong partnerships.
